It’s that time of year, when we all get together with family and friends and exchange gifts to express our affection and let our loved ones know that we truly understand one another.
But WHAT should you get the art lover in your life? Below are some of my favorite gifts. These things have made this art nerd smile and feel understood. Hope these ideas fill the hearts of your art lover, too!
Oh, come on, you knew I’d start with a David apron, didn’t you? One of my favorite gifts to give and receive. Never fails to get a laugh. There are also a great censored Botticelli version or a Roman Warrior one for the Gladiator in your life.
Museum Membership
If you live in a city (or near one) with an art museum, buy your art nerd an annual membership to their favorite museum! With most programs, they’ll get in for free all year (and might even be able to take you) and get to attend special events and talks. This gift will keep on giving all year long.
Speaking of museums, if your art lover is traveling to NYC, LA, DC, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, San Fran or Philly anytime soon, get them a Museum Hack tour! I love my Starry Night umbrella; the only problem with it is I’m going to be sad when I inevitably lose it! I’ve seen lots of art-themed umbrellas out there (this is just one example), but this gift is sure to brighten up any rainy day for your art lover!

Taschen Book
There’s little in this world that I love more than a Taschen book of a great artist. My personal favs, of course, are the giant complete works of Michelangelo or Raphael … I also love the overall Impressionism edition, but you really can’t go wrong with any Taschen.
Art-Themed Cruise
Looking for something bigger this year? Book your art lover on an art-themed cruise to Egypt, Greece, Japan, Europe… There are lots of options, including traveling with your school’s alma mater, setting off with the MET, or even booking a trip on a regular cruise line with an art historical focus. Many cruise ships include art-friendly lectures and guides, so check out the offerings before you book, but this gift is sure to make a splash.
